Additional credit card transaction fees will apply as follows: Balance Transfers – Either $10 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater (after the end of the introductory period, the maximum fee is $99). The Balance Transfer fee has no maximum during the introductory period (first 6 monthly billing cycles); thereafter, this fee will be a maximum of $99 per Balance Transfer. Cash Advances – Either $5 or 3.5% of the amount of each Cash Advance, whichever is greater. While there are no foreign transaction fees for purchases in the U.S. or in USD, there may be foreign transaction fees for purchases conducted in a foreign currency. A 2.5-3.5% foreign transaction fee is charged on U.S. purchases by most Canadian credit and debit cards but is not charged on U.S. purchases with the RBC Bank Visa Signature Black credit card- a savings of over $40 on $1600 in U.S. spending. An RBC Bank Direct Checking account (with eStatements) has an annual maintenance fee of $39.50 USD after the first year.

No foreign transaction fees or transfer fees will be charged. Foreign exchange rates apply when converting currencies. Standard account charges may apply. Transaction may not appear on your account transaction history until the following day but will reflect the date of transfer.

Debit Transactions in the RBC Day to Day Banking and U.S. Personal Accounts: RBC Virtual Visa Debits, Third-party payment Debits, RBC Royal Bank loan payments, RBC Royal Bank mortgage payments, pre-authorized and self-serve RBC Royal Bank credit card payments and contributions to RBC investment accounts (such as GICs, Royal Mutual Funds, Registered Savings Plans, Registered Education Savings Plans, Registered Disability Savings Plans and Tax-Free Savings Accounts) from your RBC Day to Day Banking Account or U.S. Personal Account are free of charge. All other Debit Transactions from these Accounts are counted as Debit Transactions towards the free monthly Debit Transactions included in the Account, and give rise to an Excess Debit Transaction Fee, if the total free monthly Debit Transactions are exceeded.

Overdraft Protection is an optional feature that may be added to your account. Subject to credit approval. Overdraft interest charge applies if used. If an account is overdrawn, a deposit is required to be made at least once each month, in an amount that will cover the monthly overdraft interest.

Federal regulations and the Personal Services Agreement limit the number of the following types of withdrawals and transfers from a savings or money market account to a total of six (6) each monthly statement period: automatic or pre-authorized transfers, telephone transfers, Online and Mobile Banking transfers or payments or, if checks or debit cards are allowed on the account, check, draft and point-of-sale transactions. If you repeatedly exceed the limit, we may close or convert your savings or money market account to a different account type.
