Pay bills you receive from any U.S. company or pay U.S. individuals or merchants simply by filling in their name, address, and your account number. Even more convenient, you can schedule regular U.S. payments so they occur even when you’re in Canada. That’s an important service, since post-dated checks are not accepted in the U.S.

Paper checks

If you prefer, pay your U.S. bills by writing a check drawn on your RBC Bank account and sending it by U.S. mail. 

Automated payments (ACH)

At your request, many companies will set up monthly payments drawn directly from your checking account for regular bills, such as mortgage payments, credit card payments, homeowner association dues, and more. It’s faster than writing a check and is automated so the payment is made each month, assuming your account has the funds to cover the payment.

You can set up one-time or recurring payments for bills you receive. You can set this up to pay either a specific amount or a varying amount. In the U.S., you cannot use online bill pay for tax or court-ordered payments.

Can I pay U. S. bills with my credit and/or debit card?
Yes. You simply provide your card number to the company whose bill you want to pay.
