Funds raised from RBC Golf Classic 2012 strengthens community families
RBC Bank presented a $20,000 check to Kids In Distress (KID) organization yesterday. The check presentation was held at Kids In Distress’ main campus office in Wilton Manors, where KID staff members and RBC Bank representatives gathered to celebrate the donation and the impact it will bring to families in the community.
RBC Bank, along with local partners including Les Waites of Keyes Realty in Fort Lauderdale, raised the charitable donation during the recent RBC Bank Golf Classic 2012 at Boca Lago Golf Course. All proceeds from the tournament, including funds contributed by sponsored holes and a silent auction, benefited Kids In Distress.
What started in 1979 as a small emergency shelter for the youngest victims of abuse and neglect, has since expanded into a 5-acre campus working to prevent child abuse, preserve the family and treat children who have been abused and neglected. Kids In Distress provides family strengthening services as well as children’s services for more than 6,000 children and their families, which give children and their families the tools, skills, services and education they need to maintain a safe, stable and healthy environment to thrive in.
Since 2005, RBC Bank has donated more than $80,000 to Kids In Distress to support its mission and efforts in the local community.
“We’re thrilled to support an organization that strives to make a difference in the lives of South Florida families,” said Alain Forget, Director, Sales and Business Development, RBC Bank. “Families are the cornerstone of communities, and RBC Bank puts top priority on giving back to the areas where our employees, clients and partners live and work.”
